Our Lineup Through the Years, From 1984 to Today
Four decades means a few changes behind the microphone and the drums. Here's how the Sepultura lineup came to be the one on stage today.
Who founded the band?
Max and Igor Cavalera: the brothers started Sepultura in Belo Horizonte in 1984.
Paulo Jr.: on bass since our founding era, and still with us.
When did Andreas join?
Andreas Kisser came in on guitar in 1987, the year Schizophrenia came out.
What changed in the nineties?
A new voice: Max Cavalera left the band in 1996, the year Roots came out.
Derrick Green: he took over the vocals in 1997. His first album with us was Against, in 1998, and he has sung on every studio album since, up to Quadra in 2020.
Who plays drums now?
Eloy Casagrande played drums with us from 2011 and left in February 2024.
Greyson Nekrutman, an American drummer, joined in 2024 and played his first show with us on 1 March 2024.
So who is Sepultura today?
Derrick Green: vocals.
Andreas Kisser: guitar.
Paulo Jr.: bass.
Greyson Nekrutman: drums.
Where does every era meet?
On the merch. Our designs come out of every chapter of Sepultura, from Belo Horizonte in 1984 to today.
